Nano2hybrids is an award winning European project designing new ultra-sensitive nanotechnology based toxic gas detectors. We use carbon nanotubes, plasma treated and decorated with metal particles. We demonstrate the results and show our innovative science communication outreach approach using videos on YouTube to communicate with the public. The project is an excellent example of successful scientific collaboration between key academic and commercial partners from Belgium and across Europe.
“Towards Environmentally Sustainable Production – The Strategy of the SUSCHEM, the European Technology Platform for Sustainable Chemistryâ€
This presentation introduces the European Technology Platform for Sustainable Chemistry (SusChem), a multistakeholder platform bringing together a wide spectrum of organisations and individuals looking to boost sustainable chemistry, industrial biotechnology and chemical engineering research, development and innovation in Europe.
SusChem aims to define R&D priorities, timeframes and budgets in a number of strategically important issues with high societal relevance. The research topics brought forward by SusChem address the great challenges and needs faced by our society today including sustainable production, resource efficiency, energy use, transport, health, and communication technology. Our fundamental goal is to contribute to a sustainable quality of life for all Europe’s citizens through a holistic approach.
