" Material innovation for efficient use of scarce material resources"
Material innovation will certainly play a key role in obtaining a more material resource efficient European economy and less dependence on foreign resources. An overview of the contributions of material innovation will be given: finding substitutes for scarce materials, developing more material resource efficient products and production processes, and building in recyclability when designing the product. Ingenuity, the main resource for finding solutions is not scarce. We are only at the beginning of material resource efficient product development.
