Biography:
Born in 1964 in New York and raised in Berne Switzerland. Ph.D. in physics at the ETH Zürich and postdoctoral studies at Caltech, Pasadena. Approx. 10 years in several manager positions in the semiconductor industry, 4 years as Technology Manager at Georg Fischer AG and currently Site Manager of the Photovoltaic start-up company Von Roll Solar AG in Switzerland.

Old companies in traditional business areas usually enter new business sectors via acquisitions of technologies or start-up companies. But is it possible to grow also internally? The presentation highlights some examples of my personal experiences in Swiss multi-national corporations.
