Biography: 

Emanuele Carpanzano is Director of Synesis and responsible for ITIA-CNR of the industrial automation department, and of the D&MC laboratory, hosting a factory for customised shoes. He is Professor of Industrial Automation at the University of Bergamo. He is involved in different research projects and initiatives, in particular as member of the High Level Group of Manufuture ETP and as Chairman of the Footwear ETP. He is author of about 100 scientific papers and different industrial patents.

Consumer trends driven by economic, social, cultural and environmental factors represent a major challenge for European manufacturing industry. Strategic research and innovation drivers to be faced are safety and sustainability in production and consumption; health and well being of an aging and individualizing population; satisfying needs and desires of a growing global consumer class.
