Dr. Reiss is Head of the Competence Center "Emerging Technologies" at Fraunhofer ISI. He holds a PhD in Molecular Biology (1983) and joined Fraunhofer ISI in 1987. His current research is focusing on analyzing innovation systems, industrial innovation, technology foresight, and innovation policies. He is coordinating the NANORUCER project, a CSA aiming at mapping the nanotechnology innovation system of Russia for preparing future cooperations between the EU and Russia.
" Strategic approach to future collaboration between the EU and Russia in nanotechnology"
A strategic approach to international R&D collaboration requires detailed knowledge of the innovation systems and research foci of the participating regions in order to identify collaborative activities with maximum benefit. Based on the NANORUCER project (www.nanorucer.eu) first results of mapping the Russian nanotechnology innovation system will be presented and possible fields for future collaboration between the EU and Russia will be discussed.
