Biography: 

K. ShakesheffSince his return from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1997, Professor Kevin Shakesheff’s inventions and scientific breakthroughs have resulted in 180 peer-reviewed full papers, over 4000 citations, the establishment of 2 successful companies within Nottingham, 13 patent application families and numerous international awards. In August 2009, he  became Head of the School of Pharmacy, the leading research school in the field in the Research Assessment Exercise 2008.

" The ANGIOSCAFF Project: European Excellence in the Translation of Regenerative Medicine"

Nanoscale and microscale technologies developed by industrial and academic groups across Europe are creating new medical products that regenerate human tissues.  For patients, these technologies offer cures to diseases and injuries that are currently untreatable. ANGIOSCAFF is a Framework 7 project that is generating products that promote new blood vessel formation within the body. This presentation will review the impact on European industry and healthcare of these technologies.
